I’m writing this as we’re changing time zones, hence there’s two times.
I haven’t really had time to write this week, so I’ll try to recap everything now. On Sunday, we enjoyed a parade in which all of the teams participating in the tournament walked around a horse track throwing candy and stuff. On Monday we played our first two pool games, followed by a birthday party at the pool for Annie. We tied the first pool game 5-5, but lost the second game 5-1. On Tuesday, we played our third (and final) pool game. Unfortunately, we lost 14-0. That night, the moms had a “moms’ night out,” so the dads took the kids to the beach for a while, and then we had dinner with Sarah Kate, Mel, Katherine, and their families (minus moms) at an Italian restaurant. On Wednesday, we lost our first bracket game 4-1, putting us in the losers’ bracket (or as I like to call it, the Second Chance Bracket). That night we had dinner with Lydia and her parents and Evan (Robin’s brother) and his mom. Thursday morning (8a.m. – bright and early!) we played our second game and had an amazing victory, coming out of a tie and winning 3-2! We followed the miraculous game with brunch, then came back to the fields to play our third bracket game. The girls tried their hardest, but unfortunately this game ended the participation in the World Series. The final score of that game was 5-1. We spent the rest of the day Thursday at the pool, followed by a team dinner (and lots of rain). Since we didn’t have any games on Friday, we spent the morning on the beach with Mel and her parents. Then we went to the fields to watch a few games. We spent the afternoon in the pool with Mel, Sarah Kate, Annie, and their families. That night we went to an authentic German restaurant with Sarah Kate, Mel, their families, and Annie. While there, we were joined by Taylor and her family. Once the live music started, we high-tailed it out of there and went to an ice cream shop around the corner for dessert. After ice cream, we went to a local carnival and went on the spinning balloon ride. When the ride was over, everyone said goodbye and wished each other safe journeys home. When we got back to our room in the condo that night, we started packing for the long journey home. This morning we finished packing, dropped Kelly and Dad off at the airport, and are now in the car driving home and watching The Incredibles. Read the rest of this entry »
