So last weekend our chorus went to Myrtle Beach and we won a bunch of awards. It was pretty fun. If I had to pick the 2 best moments, they would be: Andrew asking if anyone was in art, and Ben becoming a merman.
So yeah we finished Great Debates, so now nobody knows what to do with their life anymore. jk lol
LOS showcase is next Monday. I’m totally psyched. We had our in-class acting show this morning. My partner and I failed. Big time. I’ve been very pleased with my evaluation sheets so far (one left to receive – LOS). My dance teacher put Senior Co. on my recommendations for classes next semester and that makes me very happy. And of course acting she said I should stay in the class I’m in unless my birthday comes before next semester (which it doesn’t.)
A few days ago my dad had surgery on his elbow and so his whole left arm is in a sling, and since my mom is at a soccer tourney with my sister and one of my brothers, my other brother and I have been helping him with stuff. It’s very weird for me, and I’m glad my mom’s coming home tomorrow night. (not that I don’t like my dad and my brother…)
Wassup, y’all? Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve been SOOOOOO busy! The final performance of A Thousand Cranes was last night. It was so exciting, yet so sad. Joshua had to wear his hair in a ponytail and Colin’s hair looked like Christopher Robin – it was so adorable lol… Shreyas has been out sick all week, and Katherine missed last night and Friday night because she has SWINE FLU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is horrible!!!!!!!!!
Their wish is engraved on the base of the statue:
This is our cry.
This is our prayer.
Peace in the world.
…One thousand…
Look, Grandmother! You were right!
In school… we finished Y1K and it was AMAZING! Now in Chorus it seems more like dance because we’re learning all the choreography. I almost have the moves for Locomotion down! We get to wear poodle skirts for the concert! Woot! ^-^ Let’s see… no other fun stuff going on in school so yeah…
Have I talked about choir at all? I don’t think so… Well basically I’m in the “youth choir” at my church. We sing at the 12:15 Masses. Who’s in it? A lot of people from Fiddler… Mike, Catherine, Lizzie, Emily, Jessica G., Jessica K., two other girls who weren’t in Fiddler named Kelly and Meg, and OMG CONOR!!!!!!!! Conor was like one of my 2 BFF’s last year in Children’s Choir so I’m really psyched! But he’s not gonna start showing up for a few weeks cuz he’s in a play. I have no idea what play though lol
Dance is still fun… In Acting, Hannah and I are doing a scene called Above It All. It’s this scene about two girls, Kali (Hannah) and Jenna (me), who are on a Ferris Wheel. Jenna’s terrified of the Ferris Wheel, so at first it’s all about Kali calming her down. Then it goes to this thing about Kali’s parents being divorced and her dad calling even though the lawyers said he’s not allowed to. To be honest it’s really confusing me. In Live On Stage we’re doing “Nine To Five” as the opening and “Don’t Stop Believing” ^-^ as the finale. Our class is doing “She’s In Love” from The Little Mermaid and “Nicest Kids In Town” from Hairspray ^-^.
Rock Band is really fun too Depali (please please please tell me I spelled her name right…) and I are the singers, and Kevin (back from the summer ) is the bass player, and Nick and Mike (different Mike lol) are the guitarists. The teacher is Niko. So far we’re doing “Hotel California” and some other song I forgot the name of.
I’ve had a fever for two days now… Since I was out of school sick yesterday and today I am missing play rehearsal and the first MS Dance of the year… I’m also really freaking out because my computer’s acting up again and I have to catch up on homework… *sigh* at least i’m getting better now this morning i was 102.5 which is my highest, but a few hours ago i was down to 99 point something…
hope i get better soon…
because Y1K is this week and 1000 Cranes is next week. Not to mention I have Live On Stage, acting, Rock Band, Choir, and so much more to keep up with…
Okay so Kai and I are partners for the Y1K project in History. Basically Y1K is the year 1000 (duh) and you and your partner have to set up a stall in a re-enactment of a Y1K marketplace. You have to research what your culture (For us it’s Japan – the other cultures are the Vikings, Holy Roman Empire, Ghana, Khmer, China, Islamic World, England, Russia, India, Spain, and the Byzantine Empire.) and find different NAILD* arguments about your culture in Y1K. When you’re done with all of your research, you have to write an editorial asking permission to set up your stall (obviously you get your stall set up whether it’s good or not…). The editorial includes all the information you researched. Now, it’s time to start working on your stall. You and your partner have to choose your identities (We’re probably going to be artisans, but we’re not sure…). The available choices are: merchants, cartographers, artisans, transportation “engineers”, historians/scribes, and physicians. Now you have to choose what you’re going to sell and if you’re going to have a mini-exhibit or something. Next, you design a sticker/stamp for passports. All visiters to the “marketplace” will have a fake passport (it’s for educational purposes only… the passports are useless in the real world). They will be encouraged to visit stalls from every culture, and when they do visit a stall that stall’s stamp/sticker will go on their passport. We also have to name our stall and make business cards.
We haven’t gotten to the point where we decide what to sell (we are still researching…), but we have some ideas…
Are any of these any good?:
Mini-Manga about Y1K
Kumihimos
Japanese CD (vocaloids)
Map of Japan in Y1K
Chart of population
*NAILD is an acronym used to analyze different cultures during Y1K and the “Dark Ages”.
First off, I had an audition right after school for our school’s “Evening of Entertainment”. I played piano. The teacher wasn’t there so her assistant had to record me, and I HATE BEING RECORDED. So yeah you could imagine how well that went. I freaked out and messed up about every other measure. Woohoo!
Then at Fiddler rehearsal Emily decided it’d be fun to use me as her little showdog of torture. She starts digging her fingernails into my back and then I have to go do “The Rumor” and I can barely stand up. yay! NOT.
Well, hopefully life will start getting better soon…
P.S. Do you want to know how to make a paper crane? Leave a comment or take this poll if you want me to make that my next post.
We’ve been here since 3:30. Should we leave? I mean, I’m trying to stay here as late as possible that way I can have a take-out dinner like McDonald’s or Wendy’s or Chick-fil-A or something good like that, but it is kind of getting boring with just the two 0f us idk
